How to Report Social Network Analysis Results
Two Potential Formats for Reporting Social Network Analysis Results
Social Network analysis displays a structure of the network. In social network analysis, the attributes of the individual actors are not essential, the focus is on the structure of their relationships and how the structure of linkages affect the individual actors and their relationships. The structure of a network provides insights into network activities, the strength of the network and how knowledge is generated and shared within the network, who are the main actors in the network. The network structure is comprised of nodes and ties/ links/edges.
Social networks are thus reported in two ways:
1) as a structure of the network - showing the connections between individual actors
2) via metrics - showing strengths and importance of individual actors
